Clinical use: This is an educational and session-organization aid for trained clinicians. It does not replace clinical judgment, formal DBT training, supervision, emergency procedures, or local standards of care. Any acute suicide, self-harm, or violence concern supersedes routine session flow and is managed under the clinician's emergency and safety protocol.

The DBT stance

Balance validation and acceptance with active change. Hold a nonjudgmental, behavioral, problem-solving orientation: behavior is caused, chains can be interrupted, and both the patient's suffering and the need for a more effective response are true at the same time.
